I’M THE VICTIM, SAYS JONATHAN

-

FORMER Marvel star JONATHAN MAJORS’ attempt to repair his reputation after he was found guilty of harassing and assaulting his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari (31), has not gone well.

A jury found Jonathan

(34) guilty on charges relating to a domestic dispute that took place in March last year.

In his first interview after the three-week trial a defiant Jonathan continues to maintain his innocence, saying he was a victim of the system.

“That guilty verdict … you might as well put that on my birth certificate,” he said to ABC News. “I’ve never put my hands out and struck a woman.”

As evidence of the couple’s stormy two-year relationship, the prosecution played a phone recording of an incident in which Jonathan berates Grace for getting drunk. In it he refers to himself as a “great man” who deserves a woman of the same calibre as human rights activist Coretta Scott King, the wife of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr.

During the ABC interview he again references Coretta when talking about his current girlfriend, actress Meagan Good (42), who has been at his side throughout the trial. “She’s a miracle, she’s an angel, she held me down … like a Coretta. I’m so blessed to have her.”

Both King’s family and social media users have criticised him for reducing Coretta to just a woman standing behind her husband. “My mother wasn’t a prop,” Bernice King, Coretta’s daughter, hit back. “She was a peace advocate before she met my father and was instrumental in him speaking out against the Vietnam War.”
