DINO FOSSIL LAYS BARE DIET
New research on a Gorgosaurus fossil that was between five and seven years old when it died reveals it had the hind legs of two small dinosaurs in its stomach. The Gorgosaurus, a cousin of the T-rex, lived approximately 75 million years ago. Fully grown tyrannosaurs had powerful jaws and piercing teeth that could kill huge herbivores larger than themselves.
The new study shows young tyrannosaurs consumed small plant-eating dinos and switched their diets as they grew.
