HOW TO SWADDLE YOUR BABY

-

Sister Linda Britz, a nursing sister, midwife and lactation specialist, suggests you follow the following steps when swaddling your baby: Lie your baby down in the middle of a blanket. If it’s a big blanket, you could fold it in half and use it as a triangle. Place your baby’s hands close to the mouth in the natural position, with his elbows down. The blanket edge, which has been placed at ear level, is then brought over baby’s shoulder, over the elbow, and across his body. The same fold is done on the other side, and the blanket can be wrapped around baby. Once baby is calm, then the swaddle can be loosened gently so as to give baby some space to move.
