HOW TO TELL IF YOU HAVE HYPEREMESIS GRAVIDARUM
Hyperemesis gravidarum is the term given to severe and persistent nausea and vomiting that continues into midand even late pregnancy. It often requires hospitalisation, as sufferers need an intravenous drip to push fluids until they can hold food or liquids down. The difference between normal morning sickness and hyperemesis gravidarum is the extremity: hyperemesis gravidarum is so extreme it can be debilitating. If you have any of these symptoms, you need to seek medical attention immediately: You can’t hold any food or fluids down, at any time. You have moderate to severe nausea constantly. You vomit often and may vomit bile or blood. Any signs of dehydration, such as dry nose and mouth, lack of concentration, headaches, tiredness, confusion, inability to concentrate, dizziness and constipation. You’ve lost between two and 10kg — or more than five percent of your pre-pregnancy weight.
