Holy Child­hood swim­mers take to the wa­ter

PAR­ENTS, fam­ily and friends of learn­ers of the Holy Child­hood School were treated to a full morn­ing of swim­ming at the school’s an­nual in­ter-house gala on Wed­nes­day.

Mur­ray McHugh bet­tered A Hart’s U10 boys 50 me­tre breast­stroke record set in 1985 and Keri Byrne beat Kim Wegerle’s but­ter­fly U12 50m record set in 1990.

The win­ning house was St Bene­dict with 279 points, with St Anthony on 196 points and St Fran­cis (165 points) fin­ish­ing sec­ond and third.

Af­ter the gala it was an­nounced that four learn­ers had been awarded Zu­l­u­land swim­ming colours.

They are Ella Han­bury-King, Keri Byrne, Mur­ray McHugh and Annabelle Balmer.
