Bay soccer squad heads for the big time
LOCAL soccer players are counting down the days as they prepare for the prestigious Steven Pienaar Soccer Tournament in Bosmont (Gauteng) this weekend.
The football development structures are excited to have received the invitation, which was extended to Bay United FC U19s.
Owing to the highly competitive nature of this tournament, local junior soccer development coaches Milton Smith (Bay United), Sheldon Hughes and Shane McNeil (Mtuba Football Academy), have decided to pool together the best players available from Richards Bay, Mtubatuba and surroundings areas.
‘This will enable us to field a quality team to compete for top honours.
‘This is also an excellent opportunity for talented local players to be scouted by the many professional clubs that will be in attendance.
‘Selections and training sessions commenced last month and we believe the final selection of players will be an excellent combination of our local talented sportsmen,’ said the coaches.
A venture of this magnitude requires substantial financial input relating to both preparations and the actual trip.
