- Muzi Zincume

THE IFP in uMlalazi Constituency has expressed sadness at the passing of long serving and loyal member, Phumzile Dlolane.

Dlolane who was a Proportional Representative Councillor in uMlalazi Municipality died on Sunday at the Bay Hospital, after a short illness.

The party’s publicity secretary in uMlalazi Constituency, Mpendulo Nxumalo said the news of Dlolane’s death came as a shock to other party faithfuls, as they were still expecting a lot from her.

‘We have lost a dedicated soldier of uMntwana waKwa Phindangene. Dlolane served the IFP at the King Cetshwayo District Municipality as an Exco member since 2016.

‘She was the district’s deputy chairperson of the IFP, since 2017 and also served as deputy chairperson of the IFP Women’s Brigade from 2011 until December 2017.

‘Before that she was an IFP Cllr at uMlalazi Local Municipality serving as an Exco member,’ he said.

Nxumalo described Dlolane as a strong female leader who was never afraid to execute any task given by the party.

‘She grew up in the ranks of the IFP and her departure leaves a big void; it will be hard for us to get another leader of her calibre.

‘Her absence will be felt more so, as we are gearing up for the 2019 national general election,’ he said.

Dlolane’s memorial service will be held on Thursday at eShowe Town Hall, beginning from 10am.
