Alleged cop killers to appear in high court
THE case against two suspects accused of killing a KwaMbonambi police officer and one other has been transferred to Mtunzini High Court.
Former KwaMbomambi SAPS Sergeant Ntombizodwa Ntinga (44) is accused of murdering her husband, Warrant Officer Nkosinathi Ntinga (49) and his friend Mpendulo Mdluli.
She stood alongside her co-accused Samkelo Mpanza (33), both of whom are accused of murder, kidnapping, and three cases of robbery with aggravating circumstances.
They appeared on Friday before the Acting Senior Magistrate Pricilla Nhleko, who announced the case was being transferred to Mtunzini High
Court and will be heard on 6 November.
They were both remanded in police custody.
The pair were arrested alongside Thomas Zungu (37), who turned State witness and was released on bail.
Ntombizodwa and Mpanza are accused of killing Ntinga at his homestead on 1 August when Mdluli and a third victim, Lindani Ndimande, were visiting.
The two men believed to be Mpanza and another suspect known as Mirror Khoza, who has reportedly since fled to Mozambique, attacked them.
They forced them to lie down, bound them with cable ties, and robbed them.
They then untied Ntombizodwa and Ndimande before kidnapping
Ntinga and Mpendulo.
Ntinga’s body was found dumped in the Mfolozi area near the Msunduzi river the same night, with multiple gunshot wounds.
Mdluli was pushed out of the speeding vehicle in which the two were kidnapped, and suffered critical injuries.
He died four days later at Inkosi Albert Luthuli Hospital as a result of the injuries.
The vehicle was found the same night, abandoned in a nearby sugar cane field.
Ntombizodwa and Mpanza were arrested the following day.
Mpanza abandoned his bail application and told the court he intended to plead guilty to all charges against him. Ntombizodwa's bail application was denied.
