Amangwe Village calls for rental experts
THE refurbishing of revenue-generating homes at Amangwe Village will ensure its financial sustainability - however, the NPO requires expertise in rental management to ensure success. On Thursday, South32 handed over 11 freshly renovated three-bedroom homes to Amangwe Village.
Rental from these units will be used for Amangwe's numerous community projects, which include women empowerment, HIV/Aids, home-based care, foster care support, and early childhood development (ECD).
Accepting the donation from South32, Amangwe Village board secretary Zodwa Zikalala burst into song and the crowd joined in dance. “Today we are gathered to celebrate the work done for us by South32. They had been financially supporting us,
however, this time they went above and beyond, giving us something that will enable us to generate an income,” said Zikalala.
However, she said Amangwe lacks the necessary human resources to properly maintain and manage the rental units.
“We are calling on rental experts who can provide pro bono services as these units need to be properly marketed and maintained,” she said.
South32 external affairs manager Craig Ullbricht said the rental approach was designed to ensure Amangwe Village is sustainable. He further thanked the contractors for the work done.
“This project resonates with South32 as we are committed to changing the lives of people now and for the generations to come,” said Ullbricht.
In addition, Ullbricht said Solana
Energy had installed solar power to enable Amangwe Village to operate during load-shedding.
