New Richards Bay detective branch head
RICHARDS Bay police station welcomed their new detective branch commander, Colonel Jackie Papaya this month.
The seasoned woman in blue, who relocated from uMhlali SAPS, is excited to join the local team and work alongside all departments in crime detection and policing efforts.
A woman of few words, Papaya said she was so humbled by the warm welcome received from the members of Richards Bay SAPS and the
King Cetshwayo District Cluster.
"I am still energetic and grateful for the goodness of God to be appointed at this station, and pledge to work with the team in all operations to address crime," she said.
Meanwhile, King Cetshwayo district commissioner Major General Sipho Ngubane congratulated Colonel Payaya on this milestone in her career and welcomed her to the district.
"Promotion comes from God and we believe you will make your mark in this area and leave your footprint," he said.
"We are confident you will make changes, and lead and influence people too.
"You are here for a reason. Do not despair or give up, but keep focused on your goal and make your contribution."
In addition, Major General Ngubane encouraged the members attending Papaya's welcome meeting, saying while not every police member will reach the top level, their roles are equally important in the force and vital to the success of the organisation.
"We know of some officers who left the organisation after 30 years as constables, but through their work raised children and supported families who produced doctors, lawyers and professionals, and have been blessed to have successful people follow after them.
"You have been blessed with this opportunity to serve, and you can make a difference everywhere," he said.
