Medals galore for Bay swimmers
SWIMMERS from Froggies Aquatics in Richards Bay headed to Midmar Dam last week to compete in the annual
Capital K Open Swim.
Both young and old took to the water to tackle the 3km event, including highly experienced swimmer and coach Wendy
Cook.
Coach Wendy is simply elated with the performances of her swimmers regardless of age as, to quote 12-time Olympic medallist Dara Tores: "The water does not know your age".
These swimmers will compete in the Midmar Mile in February 2024, and Wendy will also be swimming the 8-mile charity challenge to raise funds for Cansa, as well as the mile swim on Sunday.
Both Wendy Cook and Gideon Bruckner will go on to participate at the SA Masters Nationals in March 2024 in Johannesburg.
Nothing is stopping these swimmers who have their sights set on the Robben Island crossing in the near future.
"I would like to encourage all adults who want to experience masters swimming, open water swimming, or merely
social swimming as a means of keeping fit, to feel free to contact me at froggiesaquatics@ gmail.com or call 071 6806605. Swimming will change your life forever," said coach Wendy.
