Meaningful men’s health engagement
RICHARDS Bay Minerals (RBM) on Tuesday wrapped up a two-day panel discussion engaging its male staff on the theme of Men’s Worklife Balance in commemoration of Men's Health Month.
The multinational mining company activated its #RBMMen’sMonth campaign for all its male employees.
The campaign included various activities and educational programmes, sharing knowledge on men’s reproductive health and offering prostate screening.
Moreover, this was a platform to encourage male employees to bring their true selves to the discussions and open up about the challenges they face in their professional and personal lives, as well as how to navigate these challenges.
The discussions aimed to foster a sense of community among colleagues, and allowed the men to share any health-related concerns.
RBM partnered with Dr Ziphozonke Mkhize, a specialist urologist, and the Melomed Hospital team to conduct free prostate screening for 100 male employees aged 40 years and above.
Dr Mkhize also engaged the men on other potential issues, including infertility, reproductive health and prostate cancer.
Discussions were facilitated by founder and master coach at CoachLeo Institute Leonard Mashao and RBM HR business partner Mxolisi Ngwenya.
Panel members included MD RTIT Africa Werner Duvenhage,
GM for communications and community relations Bheki
Nowele, RBM occupational medical practitioner Dr Nkululeko Molife, and specialist neurosurgeon Dr Nondabula Moyeni.
“Men of all ages were willing to be open and authentic, making the dialogue inclusive and meaningful,” said Duvenhage.
“The panel discussions addressed important topics such as genderbased violence, respect in the workplace, navigating marriage and relationships, mental and physical health, as well as addressing life trauma experiences.”
He added that RBM is committed to its employees and continues to showcase how the company is more than just a mine by providing platforms like the #RBMMen’sMonth campaign.
