Locals among AKA murder suspects
THREE of the suspects arrested in connection with the double murder of renowned musician Kiernan Jarred Forbes (AKA) and his long-time friend Tebello Motsoane (Tibz) are from the Ocilwane area in KwaMbonambi.
AKA and his friend were shot and killed outside a restaurant on the popular Florida Road in Durban in February last year.
Footage of the incident went viral on social media platforms, as it was caught on CCTV cameras.
According to the police dockets, Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande, Malusi
Dave Ndimande (Mjayi) and Lindokuhle Ndimande (35) are among the seven suspects who were arrested in Eswatini.
On Tuesday, police announced six suspects were arrested last weekend and a seventh was nabbed on Wednesday.
Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi
(30), Lindani Zenzele Ndimande (35), Siyanda Eddie Myeza (21), Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni (36), and Lindokuhle
Ndimande (29) appeared at the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder (Forbes), murder (Motsoane), unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and five counts of attempted murder.
KZN NPA spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara said all suspects will be remanded in police custody and are due to appear on Wednesday for a formal bail application. During a police media briefing on Tuesday night, KZN police commissioner Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanzi explained that the suspects played different roles in orchestrating the plot to kill AKA and Tibz.
“The arrested suspects include two men who pulled the triggers, and three spotters are accused of following AKA from Durban's airport; a person who allegedly brought firearms which were used in the ambush, as well as the alleged mastermind. Other arrested suspects are linked to other murder cases which are unrelated to these killings,” he said.
