Feeding scheme NPO increases its reach
INCREASING their distribution of hot meals to families in need, NPO Shabach Cares is now providing meals three times a week to those who need it most.
Having closed during the Covid-19 pandemic, the feeding scheme, which is headed by local ministers Nelson and Vee Yankasamy, provides meals to community members in Brackenham on a Wednesday and Richards Bay CBD on a Friday.
This year, they increased their meals in Brackenham to include Fridays.
They also prepared a breyani lunch for the crew of 350 members of MV Logos Hope, thanks to sponsorship from local businesses and community members.
''We were honoured to serve the crew of the world's largest floating library when they were in Richards Bay, and our volunteers went on board the vessel and prepared the meals for the crew," said Ps Vee.
''The crew do immense work in serving on the Logos Hope, and we wanted to bless them as they have served our community through visiting local churches and departments, as well as assisting with our feeding scheme.
''We are grateful for all the local businesses and community members who continue to support the work of the organisation, and those who have started supporting us with monthly donations of R100.
“We call on more members of the public to donate just R100 a month to support our work.
"We believe the R100 Club is one way we can increase the funds for the project and sustain it with community members assisting us, and inviting their family and friends to join too."
