Poor luck for the Rich Boyz

Defences dominate as NRB scrap well for 0-0 draw

- Dave Savides

MAKING sweeping changes to the run-on side following the 3-0 loss to Chippa United last time out, NRB coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi showed his attacking attentions from the start on Saturday night.

This time the Rich Boyz were up against TS Galaxy at the King Zwelithini Stadium in a must-win game as the spectre of relegation looms large.

The nine changes on the team sheet included Tercious Malepe in midfield, a man who has not featured much this season but who certainly was up for the challenge.

Up front, Sanele Barns and Justice Figuareido were surrounded by young legs in the form of Yanela Mbuthuma,

Thulani Gumede and Siyanda Dlamini.

The strategy worked perfectly as Richards Bay dominated for large portions of the game, showing superior speed to the second ball and a greater hunger for victory.

But there were few shots to show for the dominance of possession,

and in truth, both goalkeepers were spectators for much of the match.

As the game proceeded, it became obvious that The Rockets were happy to leave the King Zwelithini Stadium with a share of the spoils.

They continually feigned injury and three players were booked for timewasting

as Richards Bay piled on the pressure, especially in the final 15 minutes when the ball just would not find the net.

On the positive side, the defence looked rock solid and NRB bossed the midfield, but it is points that count and

three on the night, rather than one, would have been well deserved.

There are still 30 points to play for in the final 10 games of the DStv Premiership season and a run of wins is well within their ability.

All is not lost - not by a long way.
