SCHOOLS and businesses that participated in Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre's egg-citing
Easter egg campaign, launching the Boardwalk Inkwazi Cares Initiative, gathered at the mall on Wednesday for the winning egg design announcement.
Richards Bay High School won the R5 000 cash prize from Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre after the school's Easter egg was voted number one by the public, with 1 251 of the 3 370 votes.
In addition to Boardwalk Inkwazi’s cash prize, the school was awarded
R5 000 sponsored by Duvenage Attorneys which partnered with the school for the competition.
Each school was given a brief to design an oversized Easter egg in line with the company’s core business function, with the public called on to vote by scanning a QR code at the Woolworths exhibition court.
Votes were verified and audited by an independent third party.
General manager of Boardwalk Inkwazi Shopping Centre, Thilen Naidoo said, “Boardwalk Inkwazi celebrates 30 years on 12 October and we are engaging in a year of celebration. The Easter campaign was a phenomenal start to the celebrations.”
Naidoo said Boardwalk Inkwazi Cares is an initiative that partners with local businesses, encouraging sponsorship through leadership and focusing on a safe and clean environment for all.
She said the goal now is to ‘mobilise a city clean-up campaign, initially focusing on the immediate vicinity of the mall and addressing the specific needs of our community’.
“To successfully achieve this, we intend working towards creating an inclusive community, which will foster meaningful community engagement.”
