‘Sting’ operation at nationals
STINGRAYS Swim Club members enjoyed a great swimming season, ending on a high with SA National Juniors (SANJ), and SA Regionals Level 3 and Level 2.
The competition was held in Durban in midMarch with more than 750 swimmers from 114 clubs from across South Africa, as well as Zimbabwe and Namibia taking part.
Notable achievements for SANJ included several personal best (PB) times:
Jana Naude (17): PB for 400m freestyle, 50m freestyle, 800m freestyle (SA Senior time) and 1 500m freestyle.
Kacey Hughes (14): PB for 800m freestyle, 100m butterfly (9th overall), top 15 in 200m IM and 200m freestyle.
SA Regional Level 3 took place in Delville East Gauteng region from 20 to 23 March, where Stingrays had five swimmers taking part, braving freezing conditions.
Notable results for Level 3:
Clarise Coetzer (16): PB for 50m freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke; 100m freestyle and backstroke; 200m breaststroke; 200m IM, top 10 for 100m butterfly and 200m breaststroke.
SA Regional Level 2 took place in Durban from 5 to 7 April, with clubs from all over KZN participating. Stingrays placed 8th in the overall standings, with all the hard work and dedication over the season paying off.

· Silver – 100m backstroke and 200m breaststroke (all PB)

· Silver – 4 x 50m freestyle relay
