- Muzi Zincume

THE City of uMhlathuze has reacted swiftly to repair a burst water pipe, which was reported at Udondolo Reserve near Matshana, under Ward 24.The pipe burst two weeks ago, when city employees were digging a trench while installing water infrastructure in the area.

This confirmation was made by City Communications Manager, Mdu Ncalane, who appealed to communities to ensure they obtain a reference number when reporting a burst water pipe.

‘While we appreciate the effort of the residents such as Tholumuzi Sikhakhane, we could not trace his complaint, since there was no reference number provided.

‘We urge everybody to use the correct channel when reporting burst water pipes and to provide reference numbers, to ensure that the complaint is registered and plumbers are sent to address it.

‘We always have plumbers on standby to ensure we address water challenges quickly. We encourage residents to save water and use it sparingly,’ he said.

Ncalane said the pipe was fixed on Thursday after the ZO article appeared and water supply to the community was not interrupted.
