Rural school recognised for best health promotion in KZN
A RURAL school in Nkandla has received recognition for its clean bill of health from the KZN Department of Health.
Ngomankulu Primary School in Ward 11 under Nkandla Municipality was last week awarded a certificate as the best performing school in the health category.
Health Promoting School leader, Gloria Rasi said they were inspired by the commitment shown by the learners and educators to keep their school clean, promoting healthy lifestyles for all.
‘Keeping your school clean and the children healthy will also help in fighting diseases, which affect communities.
‘We want to encourage these learners to not only promote health within the school, but outside in the surrounding communities as well.
‘As we know that healthy minds come from healthy bodies, this can help learners to upgrade their performance in their subjects,’ she said.
The event was also attended by Nkandla Municipal Mayor, Cllr Thami Ntuli.
‘While congratulating Ngomankulu Primary, we really hope other schools will follow the same pattern,’ he said.
