Non-existent service in our town

-

SERVICE - this is my favourite hobby horse.

Why? Because it’s in such short supply. When one finds it, please cherish it because it’s truly unobtainable locally.

For example, I stopped in at a local pool shop to ask them to do certain repairs, which my pool is in need of. That was week before last.

Then the following week I stopped in again and ... they were having trouble with their bakkie. Then a further few days later I again stopped in and they said they would be on my property on Monday (this week) ... no show.

I called them and they promised faithfully they would be here to start work at 8am this morning - the time is now 9am and ... yes exactly - no show again!

What puzzles me is there is so little work that people are paying off staff yet this is a perfect example of people who would rather pay people off than go out, find the work and get it done.

Yes, one has to get one’s hands dirty but that’s part of doing business - if you have the interest in doing business in the first place.

Incidentally, I just called them again and was told the team left the office half an our ago.

It takes half an hour to drive from Empangeni to Mtubatuba not from one end of Empangeni to the other.

A pack of untruths to crown it all!

Waiting in anticipation! BRIAN PITCHER
