‘Councillor’s killer is IFP member’ - Buthelezi
IFP leader Mangosuthu Buthelezi dropped a bombshell last week, saying he knew the person who murdered Councillor Sibuyiselo Dlamini was an
IFP member.
Speaking at the funeral service of the slain Zululand District Municipality Exco Councillor, held at Dlebe Reserve, near Mahlabathini, Buthelezi said he would not rest until Dlamini’s assassins had been caught and convicted.
He said Dlamini worked closely with his daughter, Princess Sibuyiselwe. ‘He confided in her that someone he knew wanted him dead. He even mentioned the person’s name.
‘On the day before his death, Dlamini sent a text message to a friend in Durban, naming the person behind his imminent assassination. I saw that message with my own eyes.’
Buthelezi said Dlamini was like a son to him and was full of promise, loyal to the cause of the IFP and committed to serve.
‘He was known for his integrity. He was never afraid to champion the truth, and it is surely for this that his life was taken.
‘Dlamini had been part of the budget and IDP roadshows to our local municipalities. We were together in eDumbe just two days before his murder.
‘But now instead of a road show, a funeral has brought us together in Ulundi, so that we bid farewell to one of our young lions.
‘What causes deep pain is the knowledge that this terrible act of murder should have been prevented.
Buthelezi said he took the message seriously and referred it to IFP National Chairperson, Blessed Gwala, who contacted the police at the highest level in the province.
We will not rest until Dlamini’s assassins are caught and convicted
