Author hopes to inspire people post-pandemic

- Conelia Harry

Jwriting, ust one year after leaving a full-time career in the Saps to pursue his passion for Richards Bay author Mandla Cele has published his second book, 'When all hope is lost'.

Taking the leap of faith after 12 years' service on the force, Mandla made the move to focus on writing spiritual and motivational books, and published his first title, 'God is sovereign' in April last year.

He uses biblical principles to convey the message with which God has entrusted him, and has written two books prior -'Taste and see that the Lord is good' and 'The power and the importance of prayer'.

Born in the rural township of Mantungwini near Mandeni, Mandla was raised by his mother and late grandfather, and he worked hard to see his writing dream realised.

In 2002, his first childhood goal of becoming a radio presenter became a reality when he was given an opportunity by ICORA FM to host Vukuzenzele Breakfast Show, as well as Khuluma Sikuzwe (talk show) and Jazz Melodies. He joined Saps in 2009.

Through 'When all hope is lost', Mandla hopes to uplìft the spirit of people who have lost hope in life by the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic.

'Many people lost their jobs and some even had their businesses shut down, while many others lost loved ones to the pandemic.

'So God gave me the desire to write this book as a means of inspiration to encourage people to relax and not despair because God is still in control. 'He knows what you are going through, just trust in Him and He will rescue you.

'The first chapter talks deeply about putting our trust in the Lord because He is the only one who can rescue us from whatever situation we might be facing.

'The second chapter, 'You're not in the driver's seat, God is' talks about how God intended for us to allow Him to be our guide since He is the Omniscient God (all-knowing).

'If we can let go and let Him be what He wants to be in our lives, we can go a long way than we can in our own strength.

'I want to focus on writing more books as God allows me, and engage in public speaking because that is what God had ordained me to do.

'I have opened up a company called 'I inspire communications' to give hope to people in how to find their way to what God had called them to do.

'I have also just completed my next book, 'Unleash your untapped potential', which will be released soon. 'I am also pursuing my dream of working for a radio station and showcasing my talent on air,' he said.
