- Muzi Zincume

FOLLOWING the ANC's Provincial Elective Conference (PEC) in KZN last weekend, the Musa Dladla regional branch has given its full support to the newly-elected leadership.

Siboniso Duma was named provincial chairperson, Nomagugu Simelane was elected deputy chairperson, Bheki Mtolo is the provincial secretary, Sipho Hlomuka deputy secretary, and Ntuthuko Mahlaba provincial treasurer.

Regional Secretary Nathi Xulu said they are committed to working with the provincial leaders and executive committee.

“As Musa

Dladla

Region, we are the biggest winner, as the conference reaffirmed the support of former ANC president Jacob Zuma against the perceived harassment by organs of the State," said Xulu.

"It was agreed that the implementation of the stepaside resolution in its current form needs to be reviewed.

"The conference also agreed the new online ANC membership system needs to be reviewed," he said. Xulu added that, during the recent regional conference, a resolution was taken to avoid factions within

the ANC to build a cohesive party ahead of the national conference and 2024 elections.

“Building stronger relations with social and religious groups within the province, particularly the Nazareth Baptist Church, traditional leaders, and institutions were among the resolutions," he said.

"It was encouraging that the provincial conference agreed to that."

Xulu described the conference environment as "comradely", with resolutions taken to win back the confidence of the public and, ultimately "win overwhelmingly in the 2024 national and provincial elections".

“We were happy some of our regional members were elected to the PEC - Nomalungelo Gina, Tholi Gwala, Sizophila Mkhize, and Celiwe Madlopha,” said Xulu, adding that they sent 11 delegates to the ANC National Policy Conference in Gauteng from 28-31

July.
