65 years of shaping young minds
KZN Education MEC Mbali Frazer congratulated Empangeni High School (EHS) on the 65th-anniversary celebrations of the school’s existence.
Founded in 1957, EHS has produced many prominent community figures and role models who continue to inspire the younger generation throughout King Cetshwayo District.
MEC Frazer said the school has not only reached 65 years, but this is the ‘65th anniversary of great achievements and doing well academically'.
“They are doing well in scarce subjects, therefore, as a department, we are incredibly proud of this day.
“We wish alumni of EHS would come back and contribute where they can for the further development of this school.
"The general public must continue to support this school,” said Frazer.
She said the working together of the School Governing Body (SGB), parents and pupils was notable.
“We, therefore, wish to say that we are with them as a department so they can continue to do well. Wherever we ought to assist the school, we will do with honesty,” she promised.
At the celebration, the MEC officially unveiled the multi-purpose court, science laboratory, mini clinic, and media centre.
EHS principal Sizwe Zwane said the school's management team is working toward developing the community and, since the school is located near the ocean, it has introduced new subjects such as marine science.
“Our government wishes to see learners being more developed in coding and robotics. That is why today the MEC has launched a media centre. We are also making sure sport is developed, hence a multi-purpose court was also opened today,” he said.
Moreover, Zwane called upon other schools to benefit from the facilities that EHS is privileged to have for the advancement of communities.
