A grand occasion for college graduates

-

ULULATIONS filled the air at Empangeni Civic Hall on Saturday as 42 graduates from Metro Computech College’s class of 2022 celebrated their graduation ceremony.

The graduates, joined by proud parents, were dressed in dashing formal wear and graduation gowns as they went up to receive their certificates.

As per graduation protocol, the ceremony proceeded once Chancellor Prof NM Khubisa declared it fit to do so.

This particular graduation ceremony was held in the presence of local radio personalities, including ICORA FM’s Grace Ndlela. As MC for the event, she did an outstanding job keeping the crowd engaged through song and dance.

During his keynote address, Vice Chancellor and Principal of the college Dr MD Hlubi, outlined the aims and purposes of this educational institution, established in 1993.

“Metro Computech College is here to cater to the previously disadvantaged community rather than looking out for those with the best results coming out of matric. At Metro Computech College, everyone is welcome to having a bright future,” said Dr Hlubi.

He called on local businesses to collaborate so that their alumni will get access to employment opportunities.

The joyful ceremony included entertainment interspersed by motivational speeches.

Students were inspired by words from Metro Computech College alumnus, Mrs Qwabe, who runs successful businesses in Zululand.

Guest Speaker was University of Zululand lecturer, Primrose Khumalo, who urged parents to take advantage of local educational institutions as a means of cutting costs.

The graduates received certificates and diplomas in Public Relations, Public Management, and Human Resource Management, among others.

The ceremony concluded with each student enjoying a walk of honour across the stage before receiving their hardearned qualifications. Vice Chancellor Dr MD Hlubi encouraged them to continue working hard to reach greater heights, stating: “Personal achievement starts in the mind of an individual.”

The Chancellor, Prof NM Khubisa, assured parents that they had made the right choice in choosing Metro Computech College, as their certificates are accredited.

“These learners will be able to compete in a global market, particularly those who obtained certificates in EndUser Computing, a skill that is high in demand,” said the Chancellor Khubisa.

Metro Computech College is open for enrollments for the 2023 academic year across its branches in Empangeni, eShowe, and Jozini.
