Top SA composer releases

- Wellington Makwakwa

“LOVE is a journey of sweet and sour moments.”

This is a true definition of Linda Gcwensa’s latest album ‘Kukude Emathandweni’.

This immensely talented songwriter and vocalist known as Ubhuti Womjolo

pores his heart out as he reflects on all sides of love.

The soulful and lyrical content is a stamp of approval to his impeccable writing skills and delivery of music.

The album is an infusion of old school RnB and modern Afro-pop sounds.

Music lovers will find a taste of spiritual and uplifting Afro-gospel in the likes of ‘Umthwalo’, and beautiful love songs such as ’Ngekulazi’.

The album also features other genres such as Afro beat bangers. His signature love music is suitable for young, old, single and married people.

This is his third studio album and first offering as an independent artist.

“I worked with a few emerging talented songwriters and musicians to fully produce this master piece of an album, and I'm sure it will evoke all kinds of emotions and feelings with sincere and relatable message and style,” he said.

Linda as SA’s top composer

“I prefer being a songwriter rather than being on stage,” he said.

Many who know Linda will testify that he loves the pen more than the mic, which is why he is regarded as one of the top RnB and soul music composers.

Linda is a prolific songwriter, and has written music for almost every big artist in the RnB and soul space.

He earned his name ‘Ubhuti Womjolo’ for his love songs that touched the lives of millions of fans at weddings, parties and anniversaries.

While he was part of the Clash of the Choirs, he wrote a song for the late Robbie Malinga and Naima Kay, titled ‘Sokwenzenjani’, and ‘Amaplayer’ for multi award-winning Zahara.

This remarkable music composer, lyricist, vocalist and record producer has composed hit songs such as 'Mthande', sung by Musa and Robbie Malinga; ‘Ngyakthanda’ for Zandie Khumalo; ‘Ngifuna lo’ for Idols’ SA winner Karabo, and ‘Gugu’ for Soulkalture.

Some of the hits that stayed at the top of the charts include ‘Syafana’, which he wrote for Nomcebo Zikode, and ‘Tribute to ama groatman’, which he sang with the legendary Oskido.

He also wrote the popular track ‘Thandiwe’ by Musa and ‘Ngikhethe kahle’ by Mr Music.
