SPCA bakkie fund donations on the rise
THE generous, animal-loving community is once again coming through for Richards Bay SPCA, as donations for the new vehicle are coming in nicely.
In less than a week, the amount raised has risen from R98 200 to R103 806.
The total amount needed is R529 000, and the mercury is slowly rising to make this a reality.
As soon as the SPCA launched its funding appeal for a new vehicle last month, Hatfield Isuzu Richards Bay jumped on board and generously offered to arrange at cost an entry-level, 1.9 turbodiesel double cab bakkie with canopy, bin liner, and tow bar.
These requirements are owing to the nature of the SPCA’s work in transporting animals, navigating badly rutted rural gravel roads and pathways to reach injured cattle or other animals, and for towing a trailer.
Steven Whittaker from Hatfield Isuzu Richards Bay gave the estimated costing of R529 000.
As funds come in, the bakkie fund thermometer will be updated to reflect the amount raised, and great celebrations will be had when the full amount is achieved.
Donate in your personal capacity or urge your business to donate and challenge others in the same industry to follow suit.
Whether individuals, businesses or corporates, the SPCA is appealing to the community's generous nature one more time.
For donations to the value of R50 000 or above, the SPCA will display the name on the new vehicle.
