ARTBO 2017, ARTISTIC MAGNET BETWEEN MOUNTAINS

-

Each October, a unique event that has become a focal point of Latin American and international art comes to the scene of the beautiful Colombian capital: the Feria Internacional de Arte Artbo (Artbo International Art Fair,) which this year will again occupy the spaces of the Corferias site between the 26th and 30th of the tenth month of the year.

The 61 galleries represented this year at the Fair, from 16 cities of Argentina, Spain, Mexico, Dominican Republic, Peru, Brazil, Uruguay, the United States, France, Venezuela, Germany, Denmark and Colombia, bring in their lists important names and young Latin American talents who will form a visual rainbow of what has been done and what is produced today. Among the Cuban artists that will participate in the main section are Los Carpinteros, with the Fortes D'aloia & Gabriel gallery (Brazil); Carlos Garaicoa, with Luisa Strina gallery (Brazil); Quisqueya Henríquez with Sindicato, and Carlos Martiel with Y-gallery (United States). Likewise, in the section Proyectos (Projects) the Cuban gallery El Apartamento, with artist Reyner Leyva Novo will take part.

Paintings, drawings, engravings, sculptures, object art, performances, installations, will occupy positions, along with photography and video, which have a very strong prominence these days. Artbo emphasizes the latter in a special way, consolidating the value of the image captured in this digital age, from cardinal names that have enriched with their work these expressions at international level.

Artbo, which had its first edition in 2004 as part of the Bogota Chamber of Commerce's commitment to the cultural and creative industries, will also have this year the Projects, References, Site, Artecámara, Forum, Articularte and Artist's Book sections. They will exhibit commercial projects: historical works that are referents for contemporary art and others without commercial representation. Also, a forum for discussion with national and international artists and workshops for the public will be opened.
