NIFCO España implements TPM methodology in order to be more competitive

NIFCO España ha sido seleccionada, junto a Nifco Inglaterra, como la primera planta fuera de Japón preparada para iniciar el programa Total Productive Maintenance que tiene como objetivo alcanzar cero averías, cero defectos y cero accidentes. / NIFCO España has been selected, along with NIFCO UK, as the first plant outside Japan which is prepared to launch the program Total Productive Maintenance that aims to achieve zero breakdowns, zero defects and zero accidents.

NIFCO España está comprometida a aumentar su competitividad y lograr la excelencia en todos sus procesos. Para conseguirlo, está implementando la metodología TPM, las siglas de Mantenimiento Productivo Total (en inglés Total Productive Maintenance). Se trata de una filosofía, originaria de Japón, que persigue la eliminación de pérdidas, problemas de calidad y sobrecostes en los procesos de producción industrial. El objetivo final del TPM es alcanzar tres ceros: cero averías, cero defectos y cero accidentes, mejorando la eficiencia de la planta y minimizando costes para ser una empresa eficiente y competitiva, trabajando en un entorno seguro y limpio. La planta de Terrassa de Nifco España y la de Nifco Inglaterra son las primeras fuera de Japón en implementar este programa que busca la implicación de toda la plantilla en el cuidado, la limpieza y el mantenimiento preventivo para que no lleguen a producirse averías, accidentes o defectos. La metodología TPM se fundamenta en 8 pilares: mejoras enfocadas, mantenimiento autónomo, mantenimiento planificado, educación y entrenamiento, gestión anticipada, mantenimiento de la calidad, TPM en oficinas, y seguridad, salud y medio ambiente.

Nifco España hace casi un año que está trabajando en cuatro de estos pilares con pruebas piloto en diferentes máquinas y este mes ha iniciado el programa al completo. “Este proyecto empieza ahora pero se alargará hasta 2025 y se implementará en tres fases. Todo el personal recibirá la formación necesaria para implicarse en mejorar la eficiencia del sistema. Se trata de un trabajo en equipo en el que participa toda la plantilla”, asegura Albert López, Director General de Operaciones. La ceremonia oficial del lanzamiento del proyecto TPM se celebró el pasado 27 de Abril con la participación de todo el personal de Nifco España. Ha contado también con la presencia de Fukuo Iwasaki, Director de Producción Corporativo del Grupo Nifco, así como de consultores especializados en TPM de la empresa JMAC que darán soporte a este proyecto. The final goal of TPM is to achieve three zeros: zero breakdowns, zero defects and zero accidents, improving plant efficiency and minimizing costs to be an efficient and competitive company, working in a safe and clean environment. The plant Nifco España has in Terrassa and the one in the UK are the first outside Japan which implement such a program, which seeks to involve the entire staff in care, cleaning and preventive maintenance in order to avoid breakdowns, accidents or defects. TPM methodology is based on 8 pillars: Focused Improvement, Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance, Training & Education, Early Management, Quality Maintenance, Office TPM, and Safety, Health and Environment. Nifco España has been working on 4 of these pillars for almost a year conducting pilot tests on different machines and the full program has been started this month. “This project has just started but it will last until 2025 and will be implemented in three phases. All the staff will be properly trained in order to get involved in improving the efficiency of the system. This is a teamwork involving the entire staff” says Albert López, Chief Operating Officer. The official launch ceremony of the TPM project was held on 27 April with the participation of the entire staff of Nifco España. Mr. Fukuo Iwasaki, Chief Director of Manufacturing at Nifco Group, also attended the ceremony, as well as specialized consultants in TPM from the JMAC company who will support this project.
