APUESTA POR LA TECNOLOGÍA DE 48 VOLTIOS
A COMMITMENT TO 48-VOLT TECHNOLOGY
BorgWarner, inspired by the acquisition of Remy International in 2015 and their agreement to acquire Sevcon at the end of this year, has been developing a 48-volt system for hybrid vehicles. 48-volt technology provides more power, efficacy and greater functionality through innovative use of the energy that is normally wasted. “We are very satisfied with the demand and the opportunities that electric vehicle technologies bring us”, says James R. Verrier, executive director of BorgWarner. The company hopes to attract more than 60% of the global hybrid market by 2027, with an annual production rate of approximately 25 million units of 48-volt solutions. The system includes eBooster, electrically operated compressors and integrated belt alternator starters (iBAS), which capture and utilize energy from waste in an efficient manner, providing more power, performance and functionality. Furthermore, the company announced several weeks ago the production of the motor timing system for the Renault Kadjar, the first vehicle from the Dongfeng Renault Automotive Company (DRAC), the plant opened at the beginning of 2016 in Wuhan (China).
