Frédéric Gutiérrez Barde

ARTIST

-

Frédéric Gutiérrez Barde is a creator in constant movement who, starting with chaos, imposes an order - a composition that leaves the lasting mark of a flash of poetry upon the work and those who contemplate it.

The artist moves between two forms of expression; one that is fully abstract, with a predominance of surfaces and black stripes whose resounding presence allows for a glimpse of light to be seen among the shadows, suspended between his strokes. Likewise, Barde works with faces, humanly representations which,as if they were masks or mirrors, invite us to understand the mystery contained therein - a mystery that is so close, yet, at the same time, so impenetrable - using a language of his own and employing different materials and textures.

His two sides came head-to-head at his last exhibition in France, an important solo exhibition entitled “Tránsito” (“Transit”). Shortly before that one, he had another individual exhibition in Navarre, entitled “Dilucidaciones” (“Clarifications”), thus strengthening his figure on both sides of the Pyrenees.

His work has also captivated attention on the other side of the Atlantic, and there are already several collectors who have acquired his pieces for their mansions in the USA. At the beginning of 2019, the Bastero Cultural Center in Andoain will dedicate a new exhibition to him.

The BASQUE LUXURY art collection includes two creations by Barde: one abstract and another figurative. The second, added to the collection at the end of 2018, is called Chateau Mouton and represents a face whose hair is a collage made with labels from the French winery whose name the work bears. Both pieces are on permanent display at BASQUE LUXURY STUDIO.

The artist’s link with the world of wine has been long standing, as Barde has created a series of paintings and collages related to viticulture that have been on display in Laguardia and at several wineries. His works in this context, as well as his faces and abstract pieces, leave the viewer with a feeling of serenity, a heady intimacy that makes it well worth tipping your hat to this poet of painting.
