Bodegas YSIOS

-

The land at the foot of the Sierra de Cantabria,in Riojaalavesa, is one of the best in the world for grapevine production thanks to the combination of a great number of natural elements that help to shape it: the Ebro River, the steep slopes –which provide unique conditions for ripening–, and the different microclimates and soil types. In this area –more specifically, in the municipality of Laguardia–, one can see the silhouette of a unique winery that stands as testament to the authenticity, personality, and character of its wines: Bodegasysios Winery. Uniqueness and being on the cutting edge are the main signs that set Ysios apart, a winery with a contemporary enological style that emphasizes the fruit, celebrating the influence of nature, giving birth to exceptional wines: ‘Ysios 2015,’ made from oldtempranillo strains grown on small plots that capture the diversity and uniqueness of the region; ‘Ysios Blanco,’ a

100% Viura wine that is deep, elegant, and full of freshness;

‘Ysios Los Prados,’ made with Tempranillo grapes planted in clay-calcareous soil to give it a good structure and freshness;

‘Ysios Grano a Grano,’ a 100% Tempranillo wine made with

grapes harvested, selected, and destemmed by hand to respect every single grape and embody an artisanal feel; ‘Finca el Nogal,’ a complex and intense Tempranillo which comes from a ‘Viñedo Singular’ (a vineyard classified as unique) that was

planted in 1960 and which has been aged for 20 months in used French barrels; and ‘Ysios Finca Las Naves,’ made mainly with Tempranillo grapes and with a small percentage of the Garnacha, Graciano, and Viura grape varieties, aged for 16 months in French barrels whose capacities are 500, 300, and 225 liters.

These wines embody the terroir of the Rioja Alavesa region, thus tapping into the secrets held by the limestone that can be found at each of the vineyards.the company’s philosophy of micro-cultivation –which implies making wine in small batches– as well as its respect for the identity of thetempranillo grape variety, coupled with careful selection of barrels, all bring about unique, silky wines that are quite complex and have received numerous awards and recognitions.

Ysios also has a club open to those seeking unique wine experiences: in addition to being invited to exclusive samplings of new creations by the winery before their release onto the market, Club Ysios members have a space reserved for them at the winery just next to the area where the barrels rest to enjoy private tasting events, meetings, and family gatherings. Membership is also open to companies, and we at BASQUE LUXURY have the pleasure of having belonged to this club since 2018 – and we wholeheartedly recommend the experience.
