Monday, September 14

Not bad for Monday with seven of us involved in the usual stableford competition. Once again most of us seemed to find scoring difficult, but with the exception of our lovely Swedish member (and I don't mean her husband Christer!) Ann Holmberg, who had a very good score of seventeen points, and also avoided any handicap reduction. Brian Parry was second, and out of friendship I will not tell you how far behind he was. Wednesday, September 16

The first round of my Captain's cup competition and I was delighted we had fourteen members involved, and despite the heat we enjoyed lovely playing conditions. I played in the first match out and enjoyed excellent company but would rather not mention my golf performance. I had two NTP holes, and the winner on 7th Hole: Christine Scully, and on Hole 9: Wallace Hunter. The winner of the first round was Christine Scully with a very good score of seventeen points, and considering Christine was suffering from a bad back, and foot trouble, (plus living with me!!) her score was most impressive. Christine's win resulted in a one shot handicap reduction down to six, but she will however play off her original handicap of seven in the final round in two weeks time. Peter Messent was second with thirteen points. Monday, September 21 Eight members involved with both Christine and myself missing, back in the UK for Christine's daughter's fortieth birthday, great party just wish I could remember all that went on!. Good scoring this morning with our winner Richard Vernon scoring eighteen points, three better than Peter Messent in second slot. No handicap reduction for Richard, as under our rules over eleven holes the minimum score for handicap purposes is nineteen points. Wednesday, September 23

Once again we had eight members present, I actually got back from the UK on Monday night, but Christine is not back until Thursday, but due to an appointment in Alicante on Wednesday morning, I was unable to play. I did however manage to get to the club in time for the presentation, and once again as in my opening paragraph out of friendship I will not mention scores, other than to confirm that Brian Parry won, with Richard Vernon second.
