La Marina Masters

-

The final major competition of the season is for the La Marina Masters Trophy. This is played as an individual Stableford. The venue for this year's playing was at Bonalba GC.

The day dawned fresher than of past weeks and all boded well until reaching the golf course where players were greeted with a strong wind which was to get stronger as the day progressed. Despite this, members were looking forward to the day and, to be fair, the wind didn't play as big a part in proceedings as the severity of the rough. After the heavy rains recently in the area, the course had not been cut as often as previously and the resulting lush, long rough caused players many problems. Some dealt with it better than others as is always the case!

The recent amazing numbers of members scoring over 30 points took a nose dive but those mentioned below managed it. Results on the day were: 1st Elspeth Craig 36 pts 2nd Alan Craig 31 pts 3rd Barry Thorogood 30 pts Nearest the Pins: Hole 4 Barry Thotogood Hole 8 Pete Wootton Hole 11Mike Green Hole 14No winner

The final of the individual knockout competition was also played with the eventual winner being Carol Marriner.

The presentation of prizes for the La Marina Masters were made at the La Marina Sports Centre later that evening where a dinner/dance was held attended by some 86 people!

A great evening was had by all.

Our next game is at Altorreal on October 1. An entry sheet is on the notice board in the Social Centre or you can call our Secretary, Alan Craig on 634 347788 for full details about this game or any other topic concerning the Society.
