Teulada-Moraira and Benissa get the chance to present their underwater world at its very best this weekend during FotoSub, a prestigious underwater national photography contest, and the two municipalities are actively cooperating in the organisation of the event.
THIS WEEKEND sees the eleventh edition of the ‘ FotoSub Open GEAS - VI FASCV Cup’ – a spectacular underwater photography competition, which attracts photographic divers from all over Spain. Commencing today, Friday,
Septemebr 21, the contest will have the participation of 50 divers, amongst whom is the current champion of Spain and world runner-up, Yeray Delgado.
The Open FotoSub GEAS has over the last few years become a must for anybody whose passion is underwater photography, a fact has been highlighted by both the high standards and the number of participants who have travelled from far and wide to enter.
Throughout this week, participants have had first-hand contact with the marine environment, testing their equipment before the competition and diving for the best photo opportunities from the seabed of both Moraira and Benissa, which will ensure they are in the top position of the competition.
Tonight at 20:00, the presentation of the ‘XI Open Geas’ will take place in the assembly hall at the University of Benissa, with the attendance of the participants and representatives from Teulada and Benissa.
On Saturday morning, the competition will commence at Club Náutico de Les Basetes, between Benissa and Calpe, where boats will take the underwater photographers to their dive sites to take their remarkable images.
On Sunday from 12.00, the awards ceremony will take place at the Espai La Senieta in Moraira, at which time attendees can enjoy photographs presented by the participants, along with a video of the event.
The Open FotoSub GEAS is also a perfect opportunity for the public to see what lies beneath the waves of the local coastline.
