Hotel opposition
THE REGIONAL secretary, Óscar Mengual, of the political party, the PSPV of the Marina Alta, has requested that Teulada council reject proposals for a new five star hotel. The Hotel Wine Spa las Viñas will be a spa resort with 59 luxury rooms nestled among vineyards, on a plot of just over 43,000 square metres.
The Conselleria de Medio Ambiente (Department of the Environment) has approved the declaration of community interest (DIC) requested by the promoting company, Architectura & Land Planning SL. They obtained the permission on the condition that the terraced terrain would not be changed. The hotel will be constructed on undeveloped land.
But the socialists of the region maintain their objection. The local secretary for the PSPV in Teulada, Héctor Moasked rales, and the regional secretary, Óscar Mengual, have reiterated their ‘no confidence’ vote to the project. Their refusal to agree is based on the fact that the hotel is built on undeveloped land, when, less than five kilometres away, there is land suitable for hotel use.
Mengual has therefore the Teulada council, governed by the PP, not to grant the licence for the construction of the hotel.
The hotel is planned to be constructed close to the centre of Moriara, but on a hillside amongst vines, most of which have lain unattended for years.
