Alfaz Fantasy Football League

- Week 10

After a couple of high scoring weeks, the Alfaz Fantasy Football League slowed down with the average score dropping down to just over 21 points (the 2nd lowest of the season). The one Monday night game and the 9 Premier League at the weekend provided the Fantasy with 29 goals, 8 clean sheets, 27 yellow cards, and 2 red ones which were West Ham's veteran Mark Noble and Fulham's Kevin Mc Donald.

It was Noble's 5th red card in the Premier League. On the bright side, none of our Fantasy managers had selected either of them. The referees were in a generous mood awarding five penalties the most so far this season in any one weekend.

Crystal Palace's Milivijovic made up for last week’s miss at Goodison Park by banging twopassed Leno in the Arsenal goal in the Eagle's 2-2 draw with the Gunners.

Manchester United's temperamental superstar Paul Pogba had his penalty saved by Everton's John Pickford, but he was very fortunate to get the rebound and make all the managers happy who had chosen him in their line-ups by saving them a minus 5 score. Incidentally, Bournemouth was awarded their 6th penalty of the season in 10 games (just saying).

John's team Wee Aggies are enjoying a brief spell at the top of the A.F.F.L. as they made it three weeks in the number one spot.

Currently, they hold a comfortable 23 point advantage over Andrew's team Ballers who climbed up six places this week to 2nd. Both teams have this week’s top scoring Fantasy League player Arsenal's Aubameyang, who bagged 17 points, in their line-up.

John's other team Tarazara have swapped places with Linda's Team Tapas and are now in 3rd spot, At the other end of the table Jackie's team Winchester are only 7 points behind Kim's Ginger United.

Harley's Ginger Ninjar have regained the top spot in our junior league from William and Henry who had a dreadful week only scoring 3 points which dropped them down to 3rd and as allowed young Ollie's team Olly F.C. to slot into 2nd place.

Down at the foot of the table, Fleetwood Gian has been stuck at the bottom for the last five weeks and are showing no signs of improvement.

The closed team to them is Tommy's Real City and they are a massive 45 points above.

It really is nip and tuck at the top of our Mark Carter Ladies Section, at the moment Linda's Team Tapas have a fragile 1 point lead over Pauline's Vodka Army.

Jeanette's Jin Dream Team have been struggling just lately and have slipped down to 3rd 14 points away from the summit.

Downstairs in the basement, the situation is the same as the Main League with the Winchester trailing Ginger United.

The Across the Costa's Golden Boot League is competitive this season with only 11 points separating the top five teams. Kevin's team, Two for the Road have been in pole position for the last five weeks, although they did share it with Big Sam's Army for a couple of weeks.

Two teams have been making rapid progress in the last few weeks and they are Bill's East Fifers who are in the runners-up spot only 2 points behind the leaders and Kenny's Albir Boro Army who are tucked in 3rd place just behind the 2 front-runners.

Liz's Cookies Crew 61 have dropped back into the bottom spot after one week away and are now 7 points away from safety.

Our new Champion of Champions League as a new leader at the top with Macca's Albir Villains taking a slight 1 point advantage over Pauline's Vodka Army while at the other end Dave's team, The Hatters have no intention of moving off the bottom spot as this week they scored a minus one.

Two teams will go into our Monthly Wine Draw and they are Dave's Jukebox Mackems who top scored with 55 points & Les's team White Tornadoes who only managed the lowest score of minus 2 mainly because none of his Players scored with the exception of Burnley's Joe Hart who scored a minus two.

Manager of the month for October has been kindly sponsored by Olga and Marcel at the Trafalgar Restaurant in Alfaz who provide an excellent international menu in very pleasant surroundings.

This month's lucky winner is Dave whose team Jukebox Mackems came from nowhere to snatch this super meal for two from John's Wee Aggies by a single point.

Scott's team Dogdale have won our breakfast for two sponsored by the Bar Code in Alfaz after moving up the most places this week 50, from 101 to 50.

The draw for the first round of our K.O.Cup competition is now up on our website and it has thrown up some interesting ties.

Peter's team The Irons will play Rob's team Scunny F.C, Both managers are Scunthorpe United supporters so at least one Irons Fan will be in the next round.

The favourites Wee Aggies will take on 87th placed Kyle's All Stars in what could be an upset.

The lowest ranked team Northern Reds (214th) are up against Simon's Dump on a Tractor Boy (108th). All ties will take place on the weekend of November 10-11. If any games result in a draw, the replays will take place the week after the international break.
