Reasonable doubt?

The story so far: well-known TV presenter of British Justice? fame, James Highwood, dashes to A&E one night with his young, disabled baby. There’s an outpouring of sympathy for the couple when the baby is pronounced dead and they ask for privacy during their grieving. Then comes the shock, the father is arrested by the police, accused of killing his 9-month-old son.

Rough Justice opens in a courtroom with James in the dock facing an increasingly hostile judge and a formidable pro-life QC. We are almost the jury, in whom he places the utmost trust to agree with his view of events, that nothing was pre-meditated and he was not being cruel. Seen from the judicial perspective, however, the facts can be interpreted otherwise.

Don’t be concerned that there might be too much legalese jargon: thanks to the accused representing himself, it’s very clear to the lay person what he’s trying to say. Meanwhile a renowned specialist in brain-damaged children gives her forceful evidence, possibly compounding his case.

What will the jury decide? Guilty or not guilty? Come and make up your own mind. Book now!
