Ad Betis 2 -0 CD Montesinos

Betis started as they meant to go on, they were quicker and hungry for the ball.

They were playing the ball into space and left Monte clutching at straws.

After 15 minutes, a through ball split our defence leaving Carlos facing a one on one that their forward made the most of. 1-0, Betis were in total control, however 5 minutes later Vaz broke through but his shot hit the goalkeeper’s leg and went over the bar.

Monte were second best in every department but failed to turn their pressure into goals.

Just before half time a through ball to Vaz saw their keeper just get there first to clear the danger. In all the time I have been watching Monte, I have never seen them give so many free kicks away.

We started the second half with more determination and a Maccan free kick was well saved by their keeper.

Just 2 minutes later, a shot from Alexis went past the post and we began to hope.

Dario was replaced by Patricio but BETIS still controlled the game and on 62 minutes a long cross found their winger unmarked near the box with Fernando too far away to stop him running into the box exposing Carlos again. 2-0 game over.

German and Dimitry replaced Dario and Yeray but 12 minutes after coming on Patricio was given a straight red for an off the ball incident.

The only good news was that the rain that was threatened didn’t come. Only four Monte members were there to see this awful performance although a large number of our Spanish fans were there.
