Comprehensive win for JITC in Costa Blanca Men's Doubles league

The JITC (La Sella) A team visited Sol Park, Moraira on Wednesday, October 31.

Teams: JITC A.: Hans Hoekstra, Alan Gibbs, Peter Jones, Nick Eley.

Sol Park: Mijndert Bloos, Leo Marg de Berg, Gerard van Banthem, Rob Shot.

JITC made one change to their normal team with Nick Eley making his first team debut replacing Andre Trublet.

Both Sol Park teams started strongly and were both 4:5 up. However, the JITC first pairing of Hans Hoekstra and Alan Gibbs managed to hold their service game to level at 5:5 and went on to finish 8:5 winners. The second pairing of Peter Jones and Nick Eley were always one game behind but kept fighting back to win 8:6.

In the second round Hans Hoekstra and Peter Jones were against Miijndert Bloos and Gerard van Banthem and it went right to the wire. The JITC pair won the tie break 8:6. Alan Gibbs and Nick Eley won 8:4 against Leo Marg de Berg and Rob Shot.

This gave JITC an unassailable 4:0 lead and they won the remaining two sets 8:7, 8:4.

Final score: JITC 6 Sol Park 0.

Mixed fortunes in Costa Blanca Mixed Doubles league match

Altea Hills A vs JITC A Tuesday. November 6

Teams: Altea Hills: Martin Wagstaff, Britta Silcock, Paul Silcock, Dineka Hoffman.

JITC: Peter Jones, Julia Hall, Hans Hoekstra, Ann Goodsell.

JITC travelled to the newly improved court facilitites of Altea Hills. The newly refurbished clay courts are immaculate as is all the new netting and gardens. The clubhouse is also currently being refurbished.

Both teams started under a glorius blue sky , JITC 'S second couple of Hans Hoekstra and Ann Goodsell recording an impressive 6:2, 6:0 win, in very quick time. Altea's first pair, Martin Wagstaff and Britta Silcock, began well and won the first set 6:3. They were 3:0 up in the second set when Julia Hall had to stop playing due to injury.

This made the score 2:2 in sets. JITC had to concede the Ladies doubles but won the Men's Doubles 6:3, 6:2.

Final score: Altea Hills 4 JITC 4
