Jalón benefits from budget boost
Annual expenses increase to €2.3million
JALÓN town council has increased their annual budget for 2019 by almost €100,000 to €2.3 million, the town hall announced on Monday.
Now that major water supply, quality, and leakage problems have been solved, which curbed previous investments in other areas, the council will now concentrate on four major projects.
First on the list is the renovation of the 13th century mill, which lies in ruins beside the main road. It will become a museum, and also be host to a library, a multifunctional room and an auditorium. The primary reconstruction will take place during the next two years with €120,000 set aside for the purpose. This budget will be split into two, with €60,000 allocated for January 2020.
In urban areas, an amount of €100,000 will finance the purchase of some plots, which represents a restructure of the urban planning strategy. The objective is that the council will assume the costs in order to control the speed of sustainable development around the town.
Investments regarding maintenance of the town’s in- frastructure will also take place, including a revamp to the public pool, pavement improvements and upgrading sports facilities.
The final project focuses on the last phases of building a new school and institute. This will also be addressed and planned.
“In Jalón, we remain focused on the policy of concrete things. 2019 will be a key year for the recovery of our mill and the works of the new school and institute, among others issues,” said the mayor, Joan Miquel Garcés.
