Dutch group snaps up Cala Lanuza complex
The 127 half-built tourist apartments in El Campello cove will be completed in time for the resort to open next year
TEN YEARS have passed, since work ground to a halt on an urbanisation of holiday apartments in Cala Lanuza after its promotors Enypesa declared bankruptcy.
During these years, residents of neighbouring properties have complained bitterly about the abandoned urbanisation and the state of a dirt track that leads down to the beach.
El Campello town hall announced early this week, that the complex has been purchased by Dutch company Dormio Group, which specialises in building and managing holiday apartment complexes.
Dormio have already presented a project to finish the complex and urbanise the area with proper beach access, their aim is to have the future Dormio Resort Costa Blanca Beach & Spa up and running next year.
María del Carmen de Lamo, head of El Campello’s urban planning department, said this project would create employment and attract investments to the area. She said the purchase of the property was a very good news indeed for El Campello and will put an end to complaints from those who live in the area.
Dormio are presenting their resort in Fitur this week, they aim to have 96,000 overnight stays per year, with an annual turnover of an estimated €2.4m. The resort will have 664 beds and create 34 full time jobs. The Dutch group has already said it will give priority to local people applying for these jobs.
Another company is building another 50 tourist apartments in Cala Mercé, next to the Cala Lanuza complex. These apartments had also remained unfinished for a decade.
