CB Walkers explore Moraira coast
On Wednesday the CB Walkers went to the coast, rather than inland, and 19 of us had an enjoyable day walking in this beautiful area. We parked at the seafront, and walked along the beach towards the town, passing interesting sculptures and a park lake before reaching the impressive fort and the harbour.
From there steps and a boardwalk took us to the pretty cove of Platja Portet with its enticing seafront cafe. The next part of the walk was more challenging, up steep streets and a rough, stony path requiring boots, up on to the headland at 160 metres above sea level, but our efforts were rewarded by the wonderful sea views. The path round the top of the headland was easy to walk and included features of interest such as the remains of an Iberian village and a watchtower, built to give warning of pirate attacks!
A walk does not have to be hard to be good! Every Wednesday we do an easy but interesting walk, of less than 3 hours, covering about 9 kilometres, with under 300 metres of ascent.
And every Saturday there is a harder walk for those fit enough to enjoy a mountain challenge.
All walks are followed by beer or coffee at a local bar, for we are a social group keen to make friends.
Our walks programme, together with 180 downloadable sketchmaps for those who prefer independent walking , is found on our website www.costablancawalk.com
