The first meeting of Calpe U3A took place at the Sol Ifach Hotel on Thursday, January 17 and over 100 people attended. We had a very informative meeting by Elaine Horton M.B.E president of Jalon Valley Help.

They have two charity shops, one in Jalon and the other in Alcalali and a new one to open soon in Orba

Elaine explained that is very important to have some form of I.D. with you at all times as she outlined a few cases where people were found ill away from home and sent off to the hospital but had no contact details or address with them. At the meeting we were all offered an ‘emergency information’ sheet that folds to the size of a credit card for your wallet or purse.

It is easy to fill in with all your information, doctors phone number. your medication details, etc.

Elaine reminded us to make sure that we are on the padron in our towns and have an N.I.E. to be ready for Brexit.

Jalon Valley Help are giving the information sheets out to anyone who would like one. Email Jalonvalleyhelp@ gmail.com
