Marina Alta Golf Society

-

With player numbers slowly increasing as members return from their travels, the Marina Alta Golf Society’s game at Oliva Nova on Monday January 21 got off to a good start with 14 players present and in slightly colder conditions from the previous week’s game.

However, things soon warmed up as the members got into the swing of the game so to speak and some good scores were evident when the members cards were checked back at the club house, 8 out of the 14 cards had 30 points or over. Are these guys ( and girls ) good or what.

As with the games over the last few weeks, it seems that the prizes are being won by just a few players. Is it luck, skill, knowledge of the course or a good mixture of all. Watch this space to see how they make out in next week’s game

In first place and playing off a 24 handicap was Andrew Brown with a whopping 40 points.

Second place went to our Captain Tony Stevens who playing off a 36 handicap turned in a very respectable 37 points. Not bad for an old timer. In third place and of late one of the usual winners was Peter Gardiner. He was playing off a 22 handicap and scored 36 points. Well done to all three who should see their handicaps drop a little for the next game.

There were no 2’s recorded today.

However, not content with one prize, Andrew Brown also won NTP on hole 3 and then to rub salt in, took the prize for NTP in two shots on hole 18. Well done to all players.

The Marina Alta Golf Society plays every Monday at the Oliva Nova course. If you want to join this friendly group of golfers as a guest then a warm welcome will be waiting for you. But be warned, it’s unlikely that you will pick up any prize the way some of the members have been scoring over the last few games.
