Stableford competition played at Oliva Nova on Tuesday, January 22 We played a Stableford Competition at Oliva Nova for our 35 members and our 5 guests.

Our guests today were Pamela Cooke, Martin Cooke Ian Fender, Peter Hanks and Stephen Hill, and all were warmly welcomed by our new Captain namely Mr Bill Pike.

Bill was unable to play today, as in the warm up for the big challenge last Sunday against Montgo, he injured his shoulder. He did however as a true Captain, come in to present the prizes

The weather was ever so cold with a north wind keeping the temperature down to 11 degrees during the whole round, so members were almost frozen stiff by the cold and the biting wind.

The competition itself was played with two divisions for handicap

In the competition, the results for Division 1 were as follows: 1st Place, Jean Taylor: 35 Points playing off 14.8 Handicap.

2nd Place, Steve Crossan: 35 Points playing off 15.8 Handicap

3rd Place, Penny Barden: 34 Points playing off 14.3 Handicap 4th Place, Shaun O’Gorman: 34 Points playing off 4.7 Handicap

Results for Division 2 were as follows 1st Place, Tricia Chapman:39 Points playing off 30.6 Handicap

2nd Place, John Ross: 35 Points playing off 27.5 Handicap 3rd Place, Douglas Emson: 35 Points playing off 23.2 Handicap

Well played to all the winners on such a cold day. Nearest the pin at Hole No 5 with their second shot was John Snelling with 4.2 metres, and at hole number 16, nearest the pin was Penny Barden with 1.6 metres.

There were no 2’s today, which reflects the cold weather, so it is a roll over to next week.

The Balls in the water competition, was won today by Jan Jones, and the amount of balls in the water this week was 115.

Stella Fox celebrated her birthday, so many congratulations to you Stella, so in recognition of this, Stella presented a very large jar of her own homemade marmalade, and the lucky winner was Mr David O’Connor.

Next week, we have a 2, 3, 4 ball accumulator, which is a lot of fun, so should you want to join us at Pego, please contact Penny Barden at pegohandicapsec@gmail. com, and we would love to see you.
