Jalón reaches new heights

- By Jo Pugh

A NEW climbing wall has been constructed in Jalón, and it is available for all to use. The town hall, together with the Grup de Muntanya de Xaló (Jalón Mountain climbing association), carried out the joint project at a cost of €15,000. The facility has been built in the indoor pavilion at the sports centre.

Since its inception, the Grup de Muntanya de Xaló (GMX) has requested the availability of a climbing wall, an installation that allows the practice of indoor climbing and helps users learn about the sport.

Available courses in climbing will be published on social networks shortly. Presently, any minor who uses the facilities will have to do it under the supervision of an adult or the climbing wall monitor. The wall can be used by anybody, but members of the GMX or anyone on a course will receive priority. Reservations for its use must be made beforehand to the sports facility’s concierge between the hours of 09:30 to 14:00 and from 17:00 to 21:00. The use of the climbing wall will be free for members of GMX Xaló and €5 for nonmembers.

The launch of the project only dates back a few months, when associations who use the indoor pavilion chose it as the ideal place to build the wall. Now it is complete, Jalon council will continue to maintain its policy of free use of facilities in the case of being part of a member of any groups or sports association in the town.

Further details regarding joining the GMX group can be obtained by visiting Jalón town hall or tourist office.
