Learning opportunities in Moraira

- By Jo Pugh

THE NEW programme of adult education courses in Moraira was released this week. Councillor Daniel Ibanco presented the FPA (Permanent adult training) for 2019. The programme repeats some popular courses, whilst introducing some new alternatives to traditional subjects.

One of the new courses is ‘How to feed yourself to be healthy’. Taught by Julio Palomino and based on a lecture style of teaching, students can learn the nutrients required for a healthy lifestyle, and from which foods to obtain them.

Another intriguing course making its debut is the ‘Workshop and route of edible herbs’, which will involve excursions to meadows and fields to pick herbs, and return to the classroom to find how they can be utilised in meals.

Other cookery and language workshops will be repeated in the same format as last year. Basic, intermediate and advanced Spanish and Valencian will be taught one again.

Around 300 students normally register for the courses, which have risen in popularity over recent years. “We are now working to establish an agreement with the University of Alicante, in order to offer a programme of scientific, cultural and social development, at the same time as improving the quality of life of the elderly and encourage their participation in a social context” said Ibanco.

More information regarding the courses available can be obtained by emailing fpa@teuladamoraira.org, by telephoning 965 740 158 ext. 1506 or by sending a WhatsApp message to the number 629 138 277.
