Plummeting prices at Oliva weekend shopping fair

- By Samantha Kett

GRAB yourself a bargain this weekend when Oliva's entire retail community turns out for the latest local shopping fair – massive discounts on end-of-line, but perfectly good gear can be had all day Saturday and Sunday.

Around 30 stalls will be set up in the Centre Polivalent, or community hall at the end of the 'new Paseo' – the one which turns into a polling station during local elections – between 10.00 and 20.00 both days, without shutting for lunch.

You'll find virtually all the clothing boutiques in town under one roof and with their prices slashed to silly levels – the ideal chance to net that designer outfit, handbag or pair of shoes you've had your eye on for months but which the bank balance wouldn't stretch to.

Toys, furniture, photo and graphic design shops, perfumeries, sports outlets, bakers, patisseries and sweet shops are also among the reams of retailers shifting their stuff at hugely axed prices – although of course, the latter three won't be selling end-of-line stock; these will be freshly made.

Children's activities and a café service courtesy of coffee and cake shop Panneluss, and charity raffles in aid of ataxia research will be held – with a special nod to Álex, a little local lad who suffers this rare neurodegenerative condition.

Find the shopkeepers' association, ACCO's site on Facebook, and you can also enter a draw to win €50 in vouchers to spend on Oliva's high street.
