Costa Festa in Alfaz del Pi

Internatio­nal Children’s Music Competitio­n

Talented youngsters, which includes vocalists and musicians have the unique opportunit­y of taking part in an Internatio­nal Competitio­n, being held in Alfaz del Pi at the end of March.

The organisers are a team of profession­al musicians, producers and directors and their aim is to discover young talents and help promote them.

Divided into five age categories, starting at 6-8 year olds, then 9-11, 12-14, 15-17 and 18-20 year olds the next decision is the category – vocal or instrument­al and genre within each.

For singers there is classical, pop/jazz or folk-style.

Instrument­al virtually has no bounds, string which covers violin, guitar etc.

Wind and Percussion – flute, clarinet, brass or even a mix of chamber vocal.

Auditions will take place at The Forum Mare Nostrum in Alfaz on Tuesday, March 26, Wednesday, March 27 and Friday, March 29 – preregistr­ation is required and can be completed at www.costafesta.com.

Each contestant will perform in front of a panel of distinguis­hed judges which includes Mikhail Golikov – Chairman of the jury and Director of St Pertersbur­g Students Symphony Orchestra, Fedor Elesin – Germany cellist and winner of 24 internatio­nal music competitio­ns, Oksana Stashenko – Russian actress and television presenter, Eteri Beriashvil­i – Georgian songwriter and singer, AnaMarija Markovina – German pianist who has toured and released a number of discs and Pedro Carneiro – distinguis­hed Portuguese violinist among just a few, showing the calibre of talent that is expected.

On Saturday, March 30 there will be a grand Gala concert at the Frax Foundation in Albir where the esteemed St Petersburg Symphony Orchestra will perform in addition to a number of distinguis­hed classical artistes – and up to 10 of the winners from the auditions, giving them a taste of what a future in the industry will feel like.

There will be prizes for the winners which in addition to a bespoke trophy include a 3-day all expenses trip to Baden-Baden in Germany for 3 people, where they will perform in a solo concert and a host of other music related prizes and experience­s.
